Welcome to eclipse season!
First up is the Total Solar Eclipse at 20° Leo on August 12th. This is a South Node eclipse, which means this New Moon isn’t about setting fresh intentions so much as clearing space before the new chapter can begin. Because it lands on the South Node, there’s a strong “letting go” quality to it: something old, prideful, or ego-driven is asking to be released so the more radiant, heart-centered expression of Leo can come through.
This eclipse belongs to a Saros cycle that traces back to 1179, and its signature theme is breaking out of a stuck, hopeless-feeling situation into a more open field of possibility; a worry that’s been weighing on you may suddenly lift, with the solution arriving through the cosmos rather than through force. Jupiter, Mercury, and the asteroid Hygieia are all co-present in Leo, adding a layer of abundance and an invitation toward energetic self-care — cleansing the heart and mind rather than just pushing harder.
It’s not without its edge: Mercury in Leo is in a tight opposition to Pluto retrograde in Aquarius, stirring up intense conversations and behind-the-scenes revelations, especially around ego and public displays of power. But Venus, strong in her home sign of Libra, is working to soften the mix, offering moments of beauty, pause, and harmony amid the release. Altogether, this is a clearing, not a manifesting, kind of new moon: an invitation to turn something over to the universe so you can magnetize what’s truly yours.
